The National Arena swimming league is a fun and fantastically competitive series of nationwide galas, sponsored by Arena, where clubs pit their best swimmers against each other across four different age groups, 11/U, 13/U, 15/U and Open.
There are individual events in all four strokes for each age group as well as medley and freestyle relays, and the galas build to a crescendo with Ladies and Mens Open age group 6 X 50m freestyle relays. The National League culminates in a Cup and a B final, swum on the fourth weekend in April of the following year, with the top twenty teams in the premier divisions competing for National honours. Arena League galas are now licensed at level 2 and as such, swimmer’s times count towards entry for open and county meets alike.
To be chosen to compete for your club in an Arena gala is a great honour and you will see many swimmers wearing their complimentary silver CASC Arena Team swim hats during training and at open meets with pride! Swimmers are chosen by the club's Head Coach and selection is based on a swimmer's times and current form.
CASC compete in the South region in Division 1 East along with 17 other clubs. The competition is held over 3 rounds, on the second weekend in October, November and December, with 6 clubs competing against each other in each gala. There are 6 points available for a win in every event, 5 for second place and so on. There is even a point available for 6th place so every legitimate swim counts. After round 2, the clubs are sorted into 3 finals, the top scoring 6 clubs compete for promotion to the premier division, the middle six compete for pride and the lower six compete to avoid relegation. If you think you have been to a noisy meet before, just wait until you attend an Arena League gala.
