I started swimming competitively with Croydon Amphibians when I was 9 years old. I joined the teaching classes, progressed quickly through the squads and still swim today in Masters. During my time with CASC I achieved numerous club records (some of which still stand, but are being chased down by our top squad swimmers – needless to say, I was very anxious at this year’s club champs!). I swum at County, Regional and National level, specialising in Freestyle and Butterfly. I stood as Club Captain twice, once alongside my brother James in 2011 which was a first for CASC to have a brother and sister serve together.
I also play water polo competitively. Chris Martin was quick to recruit me after trialling a session with the juniors in my early CASC days. I now play for both CASC and London Otter – a ladies team which competes in the highest division of the National League. We have regularly qualified for the LEN European Championships where we face the toughest competition in Europe and I was also selected for the GB ladies junior squad.
I graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Sport & Exercise Science and last year completed my Initial Teacher Training. I am now midway through my NQT year working as a PE teacher in a secondary school.
I thoroughly enjoy coaching and passing on my knowledge and experience, having progressed through the same club structure myself. Watching the swimmers develop and improve is so rewarding, particularly when I can help them achieve their own personal goals - whether that be a personal best, a medal in a gala or a county qualifying time.
