Masters Update January 2019...

Hello to you all and I hope the new year has been treating you well. Our tradition of doing well in the Swim England T30 event has continued for another year. Our men’s 240-279 yrs team of Nick Robbins, Mike Chilton, John Burton and Derek Parr won Bronze medals for their efforts. There were also individual medals for Derek Parr and myself.

The Derek Parr trophy has once again been won by Jen Budden, her winning total of decathlon points were obtained at her medal winning display at the European Masters Championships.

The 2018 Master Swimmer of the Year has been chosen by my fellow Broomfield Masters swimmers. Throughout the year a number of people have approached me and commented on how well this swimmer is looking in the water, especially when he is flying down the lane doing backstroke. Well done to Andy Crowfoot and to all he has achieved. He has had to overcome a number of physical problems over the years, but he is still swimming with us and quite often showing us how things are done. Andy swam for Broomfield as a child and I probably first met him when we both competed for Barnet schools, we met again when he came to Copthall for a week’s trial, he didn’t stay. Its been a pleasure swimming alongside him again, I hope he will be able to swim with the club for many years to come.  He is a real credit to Broomfield.
