Bahir Laattoe is the new holder of the Tony Barnett Memorial Cup, awarded in recognition of efforts for charity and named after our late club-mate Tony, who died eight years ago.

Bahir has given a lot to Broomfield Park SC as club secretary over the past few years and his charitable efforts have included the annual Bournemouth pier-to-pier event. His latest venture was the London Triathlon on July 27 this year. Bahir, his wife Shereen and daughter Zora have been raising money for Doctors of the World, which provides urgently needed medical assistance for those who don’t have it. Donations can be made on the link of the family’s sponsorship page:  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/shereen-pandit

Bahir turns every swimming evening into a duathlon by cycling to and from his training lengths in the pool. “So, he’s doubly admirable and, all in all, a worthy recipient of the Tony Barnett Memorial Cup,” Derek Parr, who made the presentation at the QEBS pool on June 25, said.
