Highest Finish Ever for BSC at 2022 London Winter Championships

Bram Montgomery

31 BSC Swimmers qualified to compete in the 2022 London Region Winter Championships that were held away from the iconic LAC for the first time in almost a decade. Despite the smaller venue with somewhat cramped conditions and very busy warm-up sessions, our athletes left their mark pushing Brompton SC to our first ever top 8 finish with an excellent 4th place out of over 30 competing clubs.

As evidenced by the significant amount of yellow on the results report below, our swimmers stepped up in a big way hitting close to 70% lifetime bests (a great result for “older” swimmers where PB’s are not as common) while collecting 17 medals, and advancing 11 different swimmers to Championships Finals across both the Junior and Senior fields.

Mehmet and Pixie lead the way both collecting 4 medals while Balthazar was close behind with his 3 Golds in the para-athlete category. Other medalists from BSC included Thomasina, Rachel, Kynan, and Mateja.

Not to be outdone by his older teammates Luke, who was one of the youngest males competing in the championships, continued to show why he will be one to watch in the future, hitting 9 lifetime bests and breaking BSC Club Records in all 9 races as well. Other new club records were set by Kynan, Clare, and Mehmet.

A huge congrats to all the BSC swimmers who competed in the meet!
