Excellent Progress shown by BSC Swimmers at Ealing Open and HAC Development

Bram Montgomery

Over 80 Brompton SC swimmers (over half of the club's members) aged 8-18 were in the water racing over the weekend of March 9th-10th in two competitions on opposite sides of London.

Spread over both days of the weekend, swimmers from the Junior, Regional, and National squads raced at the Ealing Open meet. The meet represented a great chance for the swimmers to hone their racing skills in a competitive environment. We were not going into the meet searching for best times, rather the focus was on practicing race strategies and correcting any mistakes made in recent competitions. By the end of the two days the focus on positive racing and preparation paid off with a significant number of lifetime bests, dozens of medals, 4 new club records (all by Kynan in the boys 12-13 category), and the Top Visiting Club Trophy. Not content to leave the fast swimming to the older swimmers, members of the Academy and County Squads took to the pool on Sunday in the HAC Development Meet in East London. For many of the younger members of the club this meet was their first experience racing, and for others it was their first time racing away from our home pool. Ramtin and Claudia were very happy with the swimmers attitudes and focus throughout the day, particularly noticeable by the small number of DQ's, a rarity considering the number young swimmers competing in new events. Luke managed to hit two club records in the Boys 9&Under category and as a club Brompton was the 2nd leading visiting club on the day. Results can be found here
