Over 30 Brompton SC swimmers competed in the 2019 London Youth (15+) Championships that took place at the iconic London Aquatic Centre over the early May Bank Holiday. The swimmers had been methodically preparing all season for these Championships and the hard work and consistent training put in by most of the swimmers showed as we raced with focus and pride across the three days of competition leading to our highest every medal count and a surprising 6th place finish in the top club table (out of 40+ clubs in the Region).

Overall the club finished with 18 Youth medals as well as a further 3 Golds from Balthazar Bradshaw (who once again showed his toughness competing only a few days after returning from the British Para International Meet). Most impressive was our dominance in the 17&Over relay categories where our boys came home as champions in all three team events, and the girls had a dominating performance in the Medley relay winning the Gold with one of the fastest times in the Country this season. Many of the swimmers on the relays performed above expectations which is exactly what a coach loves to see as this shows our swimmers being accountable to their teammates when it matters most.

Emily Surminski was the club's highest performing individual swimmer taking Gold in the 17&Over 100 Breast and 200 Breast and Bronze in the 50 Breast. Her performance in the 200 Breast set a new Middlesex County Record in the Open Age category and was the 3rd fastest 200 for a Junior (17&Under) in the UK this year. She also swam a vital leg on the winning Medley Relay bringing her weekend haul to 3 Golds and a Bronze. George (2 Bronze) and Pixie (Silver and Bronze) were the clubs other multiple individual medalists.

The swimmers also set 5 new Open Age Category Brompton Club Records; Emily and George in the 200m Breaststrokes, Zoe in the 100m Backstroke, David in the 100m Breaststoke, and Maia in the 50m Backstroke.

While the Youth swimmers are now back to work honing their skills, building their aerobic fitness back up, and continuing their revision for upcoming exams, Brompton will have seven Age Group (11-13 years old) swimmers racing over the next two weekends as the Championships continue for the younger swimmers.
