Excellent Results for BSC Swimmers at the MKJL Rnd 2 and Harrow Summer Meet

Bram Montgomery

The end of the swimming season is normally accompanied by a flurry of competitions and this year was no different as only a few weeks after our incredible successful Club Championships in June many of our swimmers were back in the water racing in the MKJL and the Harrow Open Meet at Barnet.

After a very strong first round of the 2019 MKJL back in June we were expecting a harder second round as the teams get stronger and stronger through the 3 rounds. Despite facing some of the best clubs in the top division (you'll recall we were only just promoted this season dues to another team pulling out) our 9-12 year olds raced incredible well as we managed to place 3rd overall again and were within touching distance of the leading teams on the night. (A few costly relay DQ's knocked us out of the runner up place!). We won 11 events on the night including an amazing Squadron relay to finish the night on a high. Individually we had 11 swimmers hit new personal bests, including Ralph Sereki who set another new Club Record in the boys 10-11 50m Fly.

The excellent racing from our youngest members has earned them a 3rd round place in the A final against some of the top teams in the Country including National Champion Guildford SC. A place in the final means we can finish no lower then 6th in this years competition which is an excellent feat for the club considering last year we were 3rd in the 2nd Division! Well done to all the swimmers and coaches and please be sure to be ready to race again on the 14th of September!

July 2019 MKJL Rnd 2- BSC Results

An unfortunately small number of BSC members traveled to Barnet to race in the Harrow SC Summer Open meet over the weekend of July 13th-14th. While the coaches certainly wish more swimmers had taken part in this end of season competition, they were very happy with those who did race as we left the pool with almost 100 new lifetime bests as well as dozens of medals. Marta Ohler and Adam Ground were the standout swimmers among the juniors hitting almost 100% PB's including some massive improvements in their best events. A number of the Sr swimmers were also in attendance to fine tune their race skills ahead of the British Summer Championships next weekend, with Alex Rowson, Christy Moon, and Alesha Kelly showing their will be ready to race the best in the country next week!
