Coach Julie Pugh was in Sunderland yesterday watching 5 of our under 15 girls play in the National Age Group Water Polo Championships. Four of our girls were playing for Sedgefield (in their debut at the competition) and 1 of our girls was playing for Sheffield. The two teams were in different groups and often played simultaneously on different pitches, so Julie had a busy time following the action, but she did manage to catch both teams and has this report. Tom Jobling (P2) and Matthew Cairns (P1) have been selected to attend the Swim England National Talent Development program! Congratulations to Matthew, Tom and to their coaches Ben and Mike on this exciting news. The boys will attend three, one-day training camps in Huddersfield over the next few months, these are orientated around stroke / skill development and education; and act as the first platform on the Swim England National Pathway! We wish them all the very best.

The British and English National Championships, which take place in July and August, are the curtain and final event of every competitive swimming season; the 11 months of training, travelling and hard work all lead into this finale.
