Safeguarding

Newcastle Swimming Club is affiliated to Swim England, swimming's national governing body. As such, we are committed to ensuring that all children who participate in aquatic activity are able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment - and be safeguarded from harm.

Safeguarding children is everyone's responsibility in the club and we all have a duty to be aware of the signs of child abuse and to report any concerns. To promote a safe environment for swimmers, our selection and recruitment policy follows guidelines set out by Swim England, including undertaking Criminal Records Bureau checks, where required. We provide our volunteers with safeguarding training as recommended by Swim England.

Our designated Welfare Officer is Sarah Ibbs. Sarah is responsible for all safeguarding matters within the club. Any concerns you may have can be raised directly and in confidence with the Welfare Officer by emailing [email protected].

A copy of our Child Protection Policy can be found here Safeguarding Policy Statement.

The club has adopted 'Wavepower' - Swim England's framework of safeguarding policies and procedures and we will follow these when safeguarding concerns are raised. To access Wavepower, click here.
