This follows on from the learn to swim program. This program is designed for swimmers who are competent at swimming multiple lengths of the main pool and who want to progress their skills. As well as stroke development they are taught starts and turns and are encouraged to enter competitions.
Duration: 1 hour
Times:
During the school term on a Friday and/or Sunday night. Friday is at 7.30pm and Sunday at 5.30pm.
Cost:
$160 per term for a once a week 1 hour lesson, plus an annual club registration charge of $30 per annum.
Or $190 per term for twice a week 1 hour lesson, plus an annual club registration charge of $30 per annum.
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD PROGRAM
Team ONE offers a development squad team, targeted at those children who would like to or are swimming competitively. The competitive swimming season runs from May to March. The starting age is around 8 years and mini squad swimmers are most welcome to apply to join. The development squad swimmers are expected to attend at least 3 times a week and participate in interclub competitive carnivals. The emphasis is placed on both excelling through professional technique and fitness training and of course, team spirit. Squads have swimmers from club swimmer level through to national level.
Duration: 1.5 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Times:
During the school term on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday night. Tuesday and Wednesday are at 6.30pm, Friday at 7pm and Sunday at 5.30pm.
Cost:
$250 per term for all 4 sessions, plus an annual club registration charge of $30 per annum. Club and competitive swimmers must also pay an annual registration to Swimming NZ, which is approximately $120 (varies annually).
RACING OPPORTUNITIES
1. FUN CLUB RACE NIGHTS
These fun race nights are held regularly for all age groups of the club. It is a great way to begin racing with the support, cheering and encouragement of the seniors in the familiar environment of the regular training pool.
2. INTERCLUB CARNIVALS
Graded racing carnivals are held by each swimming club and swimmers of any club can compete at them. They are generally held each month for each level. Based on qualifying times there are Levels 3, 2, 1 and an open level.
