ONB County Pathway Programme in Partnership with Swim England (South East) 2019

Here are a selection of photographs from the 2019 County Pathway Programme.  All the swimmers thoroughly enjoyed the camps, which included land work, pool sessions and education workshops.

The ONB County Pathway Programme is aimed at developing and supporting the County Age Group Swimmer.

The ONB County Pathway Programme Camps are a joint venture with England Programmes, to provide not only development opportunities for the Countys 11yr old (2008 born) swimmers, but also similar opportunities for the teamaround them coaches, team managers, parents and guardians. The programme is engaging with 25 athletes in the 11 year old age group. Age is defined as at 31st December 2019. Each athlete is required to attend three camps. These camps are taking place at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Aylesbury on:

  • Sunday 28th April 2019
  • Sunday 30th June 2019
  • Sunday 29th September 2019

The syllabus for the camps has been prescribed by the nationally focussed Swim England Talent team to ensure a seamless development pathway within the sport. Across the three camps, the programme aims to provide swimmers the opportunity to:

Learn how to use the aquatic alignment as the foundation for excellent stroke techniques on both rotational strokes (Freestyle and Backstroke) and the anti-rotational strokes (Breaststroke and Butterfly).

Understand and adopt the correct streamlined position off the walls and transition effectively through the underwater phase to the surface.

Away from the pool, fundamental movement skills will be covered in strength and conditioning sessions.

Learn about nutrition, lifestyle management and key technical considerations for the four competitive strokes.

The head coach on the ONB Camps is Amanda Ford, (Abingdon Vale SC), who is supported by 4 skills coaches, Fabian Whitbread (City of Oxford SC), Emily Dickens (Abingdon Vale SC), Ewan Quibell (Wantage White Horses SC) and Rob Ford (City of Oxford & Abingdon Vale SC). The lead team manager is Jo Ulyett (City of Milton Keynes SC).
