Tuscany, 2018

Tuscany 2018 was a great training camp.    Keith and I took a very small group of swimmers to the resort of Poggio all' Agnello during October Half Term for a week of intensive training.    The children applied themselves brilliantly and were a pleasure to accompany.    I'm sure you will have seen our Teamfeed photos but we thought you would like to hear what the children thought about the trip:

'I enjoyed training in a 50m pool, it gave me more confidence for next years Regionals.  I enjoyed the amount of technique and filmed swimming we did. I loved the mini bus rides (and the red lights), also the day trip to Pisa. It was a shame that it was windy and colder on some days however the experience of the storm was fun, I still have a great tan and would love to go again.'
'I really enjoyed Warm Weather Training this year.  It was a good team building experience where I got to know people I don't normally train with and we all got on really well.  I feel that my stamina has improved as well as my technique. It was nice to see something other than a swimming pool when we visited the leaning tower of Pisa...and got McDonalds. The weather was hot to begin with but later in the week there were storms which knocked down trees so we couldn't get back to the resort; when we did we watched a movie in the theatre room. Plus the trip hoodies are cool.'
“This was my second warm weather camp and it was great fun.  My highlights were the trip to Pisa and the bungee swimming, where we had to dive in and swim as far as we could with a bungee pulling us back.  I also enjoyed the tempo training in the 50m pool, which has made coming back to a 25m feel very small.  The weather was interesting at times and we had an exciting minibus trip to the indoor pool dodging fallen trees.  Thank you to Keith and Sara for looking after us so well.”
'An extremely good trip, particularly the underwater filming has helped me massively improve my stroke. I feel my technique overall has improved. The trip to Pisa was great and showed a lot of the Italian Culture.  I had great fun with my friends!'
'The resort was very good because it was really easy to get round to places : meeting room , pool and dining room.
I really enjoyed going to the leaning tower of Pisa and taking the group photo of all of us holding the tower up.
The training was hard but I tried my best to get through it all even when the pool was freezing cold.’

'Despite the frigid temperature of our warm weather camp this year, I still believe that we had a hugely enjoyable and productive time in Tuscany.    It was amazing to be so close to everything that we could have needed, it took only a few seconds to run to the pool from the rooms, not that this ensured we arrived on time for training!   Everyone seemed to push to their limits in all sessions.    I enjoyed WWT this year immensely and look forward to next time.'
Next year we are travelling to Calella, Spain for October Half Term WWT 2019 from 26th October to 2nd November.    The camp will be open to children aged 11 and over in Performance, Age Group Performance and Club Groups.    Full details will be published shortly.
