Swimming Officials

One of the most important ways in which parents can help, not just the club, but the sport, is by becoming an Swim England official. All events in our fixtures list, all the way up to Nationals, are dependent on a network of volunteer technical officials.  As the club grows both in number of swimmers and in success, our greatest vulnerability becomes the lack of officials, which will limit our capability to enter competitions and, more importantly, organize our own.

CWSC is a volunteer run club. Although the expectation is that every parent should contribute in some way to support the club, this responsibility grows as your swimmer starts entering competitions. The theory part of the Judge 1 course is done online so it’s easier than ever for you to join our team of officials. Instead of getting bored sitting all day in the gallery at swimming galas, you will get to meet other parent volunteers, improve your knowledge of the sport and do something worthwhile.

One of the first stages of becoming an official is to qualify as a Timekeeper, once qualified you can officiate at level 3 and level 4 galas.

To qualify as a Timekeeper you need to complete an online Timekeepers Course followed by a practical poolside, a referee will need to be in attendance for the assessment.

For further information, and to let us know you are registering, pleas contact our officials coordinator, on [email protected].

Parent Reps

The main aim of squad parent representatives is to build effective communication within the squads, so that everyone feels welcome, included and informed.

Squad reps are also a main conduit of information between parents and the Commmittee.
