Swimmers Excited to Return to Racing for Club Champs

CWSC Membership

CWSC were proud to organise the annual Club Championships on the weekend of 3/4th July. It was extremely exciting to see so many swimmers enjoying being back doing what they love - RACING! Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the weekend a success.

Our youngest swimmer in the field was 8 years old and the eldest 18 - everybody poolside supported their team mates in racing tough after being away for so long. Our swimmers were keen, eager and hungry to place fast times on the board - it was fantastic to see.

Advanced Development were exceptionally strong, with swimmers committing to multiple events across the weekend. Swimmers displaying great depth and high skill included Luke Pryce-Jones, Daniel Jazebi, Nicolas Venuti, Maia Colquhoun, Maya Eleni Orfanidis and Michael Ares. It was evident that across both Advanced Development squads the swimmers had been training hard but also focussing on their skills across all elements of racing - underwater phases, starts and turns.

Hot on AD's heels were the abundance of quality Black Hats swimmers, many of whom were competing for the first time. Giving their everything and really listening to the coaches feedback, it was great to see their fearlessness as competitors.

For the performance swimmers it was an opportunity to get race fit again throughout a weekend competition, ready to make the switch between short course and long course swimming. Delivering process lead swims, the groups lead the club by example and put on a great display of their competitive calibre. This was especially apparent in the skins event at the end of the weekend - a tough challenge where swimmers have to race 50's of unknown strokes as fast as they can to survive successive 'knock out' rounds. The skins finished the weekend on a positive, exciting note.

It was certainly nice to have a taste of normality and it was positive to see how much all swimmers enjoyed the weekend. A huge well done to all involved and thank you to all coaches, volunteers and KLC staff for ensuring the weekend ran smoothly.
