Youths climb rankings in EXCITING start to the London Region 3 weekend series

The first May Bank Holiday weekend kicked off a fantastic 3 days of racing for our National Performance, Regional Performance and Gold swimmers.

Peaking at the end of 2 cycles of work, the youths (most in the midst of the GCSEs) raced tough, battled hard and came out triumphant across their events. The 14-16 year old boys started the successful campaign with a HUGE relay effort jumping up 5 places to finish in BRONZE medal position in the 4x100 fc relay. This is the first time in a good number of years that CWSC have had a relay depth of this calibre that now stand in a good place to make Nationals. All contenders in the relay then went on to have a fruitful weekend.

William Rudd lit up his 100 freestyle, smashing his personal best by over a second to finish 3rd overall. William's control and composure during the race prevailed and he was able to finish extremely strong - a fantastic quality over the 100m. Team mate Aryaan Din and Aryaan's brother Kamran Din, also had a fantastic weekend. Both brothers making multiple finals and successfully recording best times placing respectively 4th and 5th in most events. This is a credit to their recent engagement and training efforts. Huge potential for the future with both Din brothers. Aryaan broke the 100 brst club record, whilst Kamran edged further to having his sights in the future on quite a few club records.

On the girls side, club newcomer Zoe Musial proved that Nationally she will be a force to be reckoned with by breaking the club record in the 50 fly, medalling in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Zoe smashed all of her best times and did a great job in transferring key skill points to work on between heat and final. Such athletic intelligence effectively secured her podium finishes and huge personal best times.

Suki Griffiths also had a consistent and strong weekend making numerous finals and personal bests. It was good to see Suki fighting for places in her finals. This was particularly apparent in the 100 freestyle where Suki held her breath for the last 10 metres in order to drive to the wall.

The Youth Championships was a 3 day meet where the best in London competed. It's the first of a three weekend stint for the club swimmers (and parents!). A huge well done to all Youths that competed, now it's time to rebuild to finish bigger in the summer.
