CWSC National and Regional squad swimmers had an OUTSTANDING weekend of racing against the very best in London. Last weekend the swimmers started a 2 weekend back to back racing campaign at the London Aquatics Centre. Reaping rewards from their extremely hard and committed training efforts, the swimmers stood out as some of the best in the Region - technically, skill and time wise. It was fantastic to see swimmers maturely approaching races, racing smart, as well as having professional feedback conversations with coaches post swims.

13 year old Edward Whittles had a super first weekend. Edward collected personal bests, podium finishes and National top 5 rankings (a year young) in all his events swam. The highlight being his 400 IM where his race processes that he's rehearsed over the last few competitions finally came together to lead to a strong race - placing him 3rd in the country for the 13/14yr age group. His team mate Mehmet Zeren was another swimmer who had a good weekend, racing to personal bests in the 200 bk and 400 IM and securing podium finishes in both. Mehmet's work on his breaststroke in his IM finally prevailed, swimming each 50 3 seconds faster than in previous races. Another swimmer to hit the National rankings was Adrien Durantel in the 200 bk.

Lavinia Ricca started her weekend campaign with a win in the 400 IM. The confidence of a gold medal then helped momentum for Lavinia across what was a huge weekend for the multi eventer. Step ups were made between heats and finals to secure Lavinia podium finishes and show the depth that she has across several events in the Region. Most noteably the 200 breaststroke where Lavinia took 7 seconds off her personal best and swam a controlled, progressive race. Such a good race that she now has a place on the National rankings.

Josie Surminski continued her breaststroke dominance over the 200 where she had an incredibly split race (almost negative splitting the event) to become London Region Champion, smash a club record and currently sit 3rd on the National rankings.

Regional Performance swimmers matched the display of finesse from National Performance. Veronica Venuti had a series of super backstroke events and finished on the London Region podium a year under age. Veronica's 50 and 200 backstroke were outstanding and showed sheer determination to beat the older swimmers. Victoria Bunimovich had a solid weekend hitting big personal bests especially in the 100/200 fly. It's clear Victoria has been working on an even breathing pattern and a flatter technique of her fly which has ultimately lead to huge improvements.

The whole team had a great weekend. It's hard to debrief everyone's names but the coaches were immensely proud of everyone. Well done. We go again this weekend...
