A very focussed group of swimmers attended the NOVA (Nottingham) team event on the 19th/20th October.

Cementing their event processes and tactics, the group looked to secure some solid early season races. Across the two days, the swimmers had back to back races and were expected to manage their energy and emotion throughout. They displayed great resilience and did a superb job - making the weekend easily coachable.

Both Aryaan Din and Zoe Musial swam HUGE lifetime bests in the 100m freestyle through holding their control on the first half of their races and committing to a big back 50m. The swims were so big, they smashed the qualifying time (at 15+16 years old) for the English shortcourse Nationals in December. Team mate Jarvis Parkinson also executed individual race processes perfectly to swim best times and take down several club records on the 50 freestyle/50 butterfly/100 freestyle/100 butterfly. Another swimmer from NP who seemed to collate club records that weekend was Edward Whittles. Starting his season with a vision towards building on his success after last year, Edward smashed the club records in 50 fc/50 brst/50 fly/200 brst/200 IM/400 IM and 200 freestyle - the latter being his first time to break the 2 minute mark!

Across NP there was a great focus on executing race plans with little distraction from the emotion of pre race nerves. Kamran Din was exceptional throughout on delivering his skills and keeping his focus on what he could control with his swimming rather than everyone elses. Betsy Griffith, Henry Gray and Lanre Pratt displayed great strength and consistency throughout the whole weekend, clocking best times and were always prepared for productive conversation post their swims.

In RP Veronica Venuti had a fantastic weekend. Veronica broke the club records in the 100/200 backstroke and 800 freestyle. Clearly working on perfecting her underwater phases, Veronica outskilled most of the field regualrly. Veronica's maturity and resilience helped her bounce from race to race and deliver on each one. Team mate Victorica Bunimovich was another swimmer who had back to back races and persisted through all of them. Both Damjan Kisic and Jonny Rudd often went head to head in most heats and battled out some good results in their freestyle and backstroke events. Jonny also showed strength in his 400 IM, swimming a time which qualified him for short course Regionals. Eddie Robinson was in great spirits all weekend, buildng on his superb swims from the Arena League the previous week. It was a high level meet for Eddie and training partner Joseph Lyon to experience so early on in the season. Both swimmers being new into RP, they did a strong job when controlling their nerves.

The attitude displayed in the swimmers daily environment is now transferring onto the competitive stage - a strong start to the season, keep it up.
