Next Generation SHINE at the NUEL Winter Invitational

CWSC Membership

On Sunday our younger swimmers attended the Newham Winter Meet en masse. For some, it was their first experience of an external competition - the whole group's enthusiasm was infectious all day. Coaches, swimmers and parents were a fantastic reflection of the club's performance pathway and CW secured some happy and fast swims!

First timers Michael Ares and Ines Sweeny had a super day, collecting medals almost every time they entered the water! Michael showed strength in some of the sprint events finishing in SILVER medal position in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle. Michael also finished in BRONZE medal position in the 50 freestyle. Teammate Ines was just as successful, holding her nerve throughout the day and successfully racing back to back events. The highlight for Ines was to walk away with GOLD in the 50m butterfly and GOLD in the 100m freestyle! Both swimmers were perfect role models for the club and remained focussed on every event throughout the day. They always had high energy and a strong focus on their technique. Black hat swimmers Nico Venuti and Louis Littlemore also enjoyed the challenge of going head to head in races. Their attitude and effort was huge every time they went down to race. They also collated numerous medals. Holland Park Black Hat swimmer Luke Pryce-Jones matched his teammate Louis's efforts, racing tough to get numerous medals.

Matilde La Magna from AD1 had a busy schedule throughout the day, however displayed great professionalism by always reporting to her coaches before and after the race. Following her post race feedback, Matilde would always try to implement any immediate changes in the next race.

It's great to see not only the results and medals, but the HUGE effort and focus from all competitors. A big well done to all that swam.
