Huge Congratulations Cerys Hughes selected for Senior European Artistic Swimming travelling squad.

Huge congratulations to Cerys Hughes who was selected to the travelling squad for the Senior Europeans at a training camp last weekend. Cerys joins Daniella, Iz and Kate for the Senior Europeans in Budapest, Hungary in May.
Here is a little about her journey.
I started synchro when I was 11 years old at a small club in my town. After watching a display by Kate and Izzy I decided to join COB in 2012. Since then I have fallen in love with the sport and everything it has given me over the years. I have always loved working with others and challenging myself as well as being a bit creative so this just seemed like the perfect sport for me!As I got older I wanted to push myself further and set myself the aim of trying to gain a place on the elite programme. I first got selected onto the England talent training squad for the 2015/16 season, during which I took part in my first international competition in Hungary! Following trials, I was then selected onto the GB training squad in September 2017 and am now in my 4th year of training with them. One of my biggest achievements has to be winning silver medals at the FINA World Series French open (2019 and 2020 respectively) in the free combination event. Those medals consolidate all the hard work we have put in and hold some amazing memories.I am currently studying a degree in psychology and so have to manage my time very carefully between synchro and my studies- this has definitely improved my organisation skills! As I continue in the sport I hope to raise its awareness in this country and beyond and help put Great Britain back on the map for synchro! I would also love to be part of the team hopefully going to the Paris 2024 olympics so this is a big goal that I am working towards at the moment.
