We have not one, not two, but THREE exciting pieces of news to share with you about our Crowdfunder. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/keynsham-amateur-swimming-clubs-covid-19-appeal Firstly, as some of you may be aware, we have successfully managed to hit our initial £12,000 target and have secured the grant from Sport England in that total. Dear Swimmers, parents and carers Hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying being back in the pool. We had a meeting today with the manager and covid officer from Keynsham pool. They were very positive and pleased with how our sessions are being run. The pool is operating under restricted hours and at this time we are unable to get more sessions but they were very hopeful that in the not too distant future we can have more time there. I have some good news for parents of 7 year...

Dear swimmers, parents and carers. Hope everyone is well and looking forward to getting back in the pool. By now you should have all received videos and a back to training information letter. Also 3 forms were sent out that need to be filled out and returned by email to the welfare officers by 5th Sept. Please note that swimmers will not be allowed back to training unless these are sent back. If you have not received any of the above please let me know asap. All procedures have been...

Preparations for our return to the pool on the 7th September are coming together. We will start with the training schedule now available on our website under the Squads & Timetable tab: https://uk.teamunify.com/team/reczzkscor/page/join-kasc/training-schedule We have tried to keep to the same times as previously where pool availability allows - we will keep this schedule under review and will tweak where we can make better use of the time.

Good evening, We were disappointed today, as I’m sure you were, to learn that swimming pools were amongst the list of places that are still to be given an opening date. We are fully in support of Swim England’s #OpenOurPools campaign. Swim England is calling on its members, clubs, coaches, teachers, swim schools, swimmers and facility operators to back its #OpenOurPools campaign. Chief Executive Jane Nickerson has said millions of people are being let down by the Government’s decision not to allow pools to reopen on 4 July. So, we...

Shortly after it was announced that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were to be pushed over to 2021, we caught up with Olympic medallist, Siobhan-Marie O’Connor. Siobhan began her successful swimming career here at Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club and is always happy to stay in touch with grassroots swimming. Here’s what she had to say about the last few months… Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club: Firstly, we hope you are keeping well during this crazy time and want to ask you where you are spending your lockdown. Are you in the UK...

Training with Mike Videos While we are finding ourselves in this unprecedented time it's very important for swimmers to maintain their levels of fitness, so Mike will be putting together a series of land training videos for the Regional Potential Swimmers to use. It is expected by the coaches that swimmers will attempt these daily. These workouts are quite tough so younger swimmers may wish to try this https://youtu.be/ K6r99N3kXME Here is the first one... for all others check in on the new tab at the top of the website...

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jasper Lye as Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club’s Assistant Coach. Jasper started with Keynsham at the end of November (some of you may have seen him poolside) and for the first few months will be working solely with the younger Regional Potential swimmers, alongside Ruby Bird, to prepare them for The Somerset County Championships in January and February 2020. This enables Head Coach, Kay Rex and Zach Derrick to be able to fully concentrate on the older Regional Potential swimmers to get them...

“The Village Club” A history of Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club By Jean Findlay, Life President August 2001 The Village Club Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club (KASC) has come a long way in a short time as a competitive club, but no one really knows when it started. We know it was closed down for the duration of the 2nd world war in 1939 and was restarted by Babs Rayner, Doc Morgan and Joan Vincent in the 1940s. I wrote articles for every newspaper in the area in 1979, but no hard...
