Report from the Len Badcock Memorial Disability Open Meet 2022

Leah Pullen

Didn’t we have  a lovely day the day we went to

The Len Badcock Memorial Disability Meet.

Yes, we did.  The athletes, their coaches, carers and parents all agreed.  Leah has received numerous emails saying how much they had enjoyed the meet and how much they had all got out of it.  It was a happy and uplifting day.  One swimmer, William Roberts, had such a good time that he has been able to send off the paperwork to claim a new European Record for 200m individual I/M.

Fortunately, thanks to a couple of clubs and a band of enthusiastic and generous trainees, we were just compliant with the license conditions.  How dreadful it would have been if William had achieved the time but could not claim the record through lack of officials.

So, a very big thank you to those who came along to help and a suggestion that those who didn’t, get the date in their diaries for next year.  If you weren’t there, you missed a real treat.

Thank you to Colin, our President Elect, for assisting with the presentation of medals, certificates and rosettes.

Thank you to Leah for all the time and effort she put into organising the event as well.  The athletes all left saying “See you  next year”.
