Maxwell is the top competitive swimming club in the Aylesbury Vale. We have training bases in Aylesbury and Buckingham, our professional coaches work with swimmers of all abilities to allow them to reach their full potential, prepared for competition at club, county, regional, national and even international level.
The club operates a group and squad structure which guides and mentors children through their swimming career. From entry into our Academy through to our Performance squads our swimmers are trained using the latest scientific techniques. Our athletes will improve their technique, build fitness and develop their competitive abilities within a balanced programme, promoting and enhancing involvement and enjoyment swimming. Swimmers start at Maxwell following Stage 6-7 of the Swim England Learn to Swim programme or move from other forms of training such as an alternative competitive club.
Swimmers at Maxwell must be prepared to dedicate time to consistently attend their allocated sessions and be prepared to work hard when they are at training. In return the athlete will be fitter than you thought possible, have a finely developed competitive instinct, have outstanding stroke technique, all learnt while enjoying time with like minded friends. Maxwell’s training and competition program is designed to develop excellent life skills such as determination, team work and time management. As with all elite sport, our swimmers will learn to deal with success and disappointment but they will always have fun and be treated as an important part of something very special!

More Information
The Club is affiliated to Swim England and has achieved its Swim Mark Essential Club accreditation. This is a national recognition that a club provides a quality service for all members, recognised by Sport England, and entitling us to Clubmark status.
Maxwell was established in 1979 in Aylesbury and was named after the “Reg Maxwell Pools & Fitness Centre”. This was the original swimming pool in Aylesbury (next to the cinema). Aqua Vale was the replacement of this facility and so has been Maxwell’s home since 2001, when it opened. Maxwell also has a large section of swimmers based in Buckingham since our Academy started in 2009.
Maxwell is a competitive club, which caters for swimmers of all ages who want to develop their capabilities and achieve success in competition. The club regularly has swimmers competing at National and International events and has strong links with the World Class programmes and English Talent Development programmes run by British Swimming and the South East Region Swim England.
The club encourages young swimmers to start their development with two or three sessions per week in the Maxwell Academy to improve their stroke and fitness. They do this whilst enjoying the friendly environment and the company of other swimmers their age. As their swimming improves, the club provides the opportunity to compete in initially, novice galas and meets and through to County and National events.
The club's aim is for every swimmer to have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Consequently our training is demanding but it ensures they develop proper technique and fitness, both of which are fundamental in performance swimming. Additionally swimmers also develop other skills such as self-discipline, motivation and goal setting, all of which are of enormous benefit in later life.
As your son or daughter joins Maxwell Swim Club please remember that volunteers principally run the club, so please offer your help whenever you can. The club runs four “open meets” (competitions) per year and these require help and support from all the clubs parents.
Your privacy is important to us. Maxwell Swim Club Ltd is committed to complying with data protection law and to respecting the privacy rights of individuals. The policy applies to all of our coaches, directors, committee and volunteers (“Workers”).
