Para Classification
Obtaining a Para Classification
In the case of swimmers with a physical disability, classification is based on several factors i.e. muscle strength, movement co-ordination, joint range of movement and/or limb length. The swimmers are also required to perform a practical water session, performing all strokes and be accordingly assessed on their ability and then finally be observed in competition.
Process
1) Here is a link to the form that needs to be completed by a parent/guardian to Register a Disability (this form should be completed on joining Maxwell, so that Swim England is aware that a swimmer may wish to apply for a classification in due course.)
2) Here is a link to the form to be completed to Apply for a Classification (this should be completed when a swimmer starts to compete in swimming galas and meets)
Both forms should be handed to our Head Coach (or a member or the Admin Team)
