Swimmers from County and Regional squads set of for UK swim camp at Mount Kelly in Devon during the Easter holidays. Maxwell hasn't done a UK camp since 2019 so everyone was excited to see what it was all about. Despite a bit of rain the week was a good one. Lots of hard swim sessions were done mixed with some great outdoor activities and the odd game of bingo.

Swimmers from County and Regional squads have been invited to attend the UK swim camp which will take place at Mount Kelly (Devon) for four days during the Easter holidays. The format is similar to the international swim camp and gives swimmers an idea of what to expect should they be invited to international swim camp. We hope everyone has a great time next week.
Pool side helpers - these are normally swimmers from more senior squads who are willing and able to volunteer at sessions and be another set of eyes on swimmers. Many of our swimmers have then gone on to take their swim teaching or coaching qualifications once they turn 16. Volunteer coaches - the idea is that if any parents have an interest in becoming involved in swimming or already have a swim coaching/ teaching qualification, then they would assist a coach pool side. They would not coach the swimmers initially...
The weekend 11th and 12th March saw several events that Maxwell swimmers took part in. Hollie Whaymand attended the ESSA (English Schools Swimming Association) meet in Coventry where she gained a qualification time in the 200 breaststroke for British Championships in April. Sam Pyefinch gained a qualification time for the 200 fly for British Championships whilst at the High Wycombe meet over the weekend. Well done to both of you and all who entered the Wycombe meet. The majority of our swimmers were at the Maxwell meet this weekend. Despite...

This is something that we will be looking to do again next season so watch out for that. If anyone has any...

The biggest news is of course Maxwell winning at ONB counties. Not just one but two trophies - Top Juniors and Top club, this is the first time in 12 years that the club has won. During counties our swimmers accumulated a great deal of medals across all age groups, we had swimmers in the majority of finals and were leading the tables from the first day. This is a fantastic achievement for everyone who took part - well done all.

During February half term the performance squad visited Cyprus for the week to train in a 50M pool, which is something we do every year for the Performance squads. For those of you that don't know we are now in the part of the season where Long Course racing starts which is in a 50M pool, so camp is usually seen as a good start to the long course training. International swim camps give the swimmers some idea of what it would be like to train on a professional camp....
