Volunteering at NSC

At Northampton Swimming Club we, like all other sports club, rely on the help and support of our parent volunteers to help with the running of the club and the swim meets we organise. We are always eager to here from parents that can help any of the area’s details below

Volunteering to help at our swim meets can be rewarding whilst still allowing you to see your swimmer race from poolside. There are a number of roles that must be filled to allow the smooth running of every NSC swim meet such as

  • Door / Ticket Sales
  • Marshalling of Swimmers
  • Refreshments for Volunteers & Officials

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, then please email [email protected]

Team Managers

We also need help day to day poolside.  We endeavour to have two Team Managers for every squad to help day to day at training sessions and at swim meets.

Team Managers are required to complete both a Swim England Team Manager Qualification and Safeguarding course alongside an enhanced DBS check.

If you are aware that your child’s squad does not currently have two team manages and you feel that you can offer a regular commitment, please speak to your child’s coach.

Finally, we ALWAYS need more officials especially from the younger age swimmers parents in the development squads (particularly Bronze, Silver, Gold and PD). Supplying suitably qualified officials is getting more and more difficult and without officials we would not be able to enter and compete in these team events.

There are different qualifications for officials with the entry level being Judge 1 moving all the way to referee so initially we would be looking for parents to start the journey as a J1, detailed below

Judge level 1

This comprises of an online theory format, designed to allow volunteers to start the training at their own pace and to fit with all the other lifestyle commitments which we know our volunteers have. It is then followed by poolside mentoring and experience at swimming meets.
