Norwich Swan Swimming Club

NHSG Pool Protocol

COVID-19 remains a part of our lives so we are continuing to keep some measures in place to keep ourselves and others safe for a while longer.

If your swimmer is displaying symptoms or has tested positive please do not attend lessons.

We want to ensure that all swimmers are as safe as possible whilst under our care, and to keep our teaching team healthy and able to deliver the lessons through the next few months.

Just to update you on how lessons will be running at NHSG:

  • Please enter via Albemarle Road and park in the Sixth form car park.
  • Swimmers should still arrive at the pool “beach ready” with swimwear on under their outer clothing.  Changing rooms are not to be used prior to the start of the lesson.

  • Please do not enter the building onto the poolside more than 5 mins before the start of your session especially if you are in the 12 o’clock class as there is a squad session running beforehand.

  • Swimmers enter through the double fire exit* come in and take off their outer clothing on the poolside (swimwear is already being worn on arrival) and sit quietly on the benches until the start of their lesson.

  • If parents need to accompany younger swimmers at the start of the lesson please do not enter through the changing rooms, come in through the side fire exit onto the poolside ensuring you remove outdoor shoes or wear shoe coverings.

  • Parents are allowed on poolside for younger children or new nervous swimmers, however, once your swimmer has settled we would like you to leave and return at the end of the session. Spectators are not encouraged at this time.

  • At the end of the session, swimmers will proceed either to the changing rooms, if they wish to get changed (Showers are available for a quick rinse only) Or if not, then put on a dressing gown or similar and go out through the changing rooms to the exit door.

  • We would like to make parents aware that they should not be in the changing rooms while the children are changing, unless their child is of an age where help is still required from parents.  In such circumstances, the parent must use the correct changing room for their own sex/gender and their child must accompany them.  Eg. An adult female parent/guardian would use the female changing room with their child and a male parent/guardian would use the male changing room with their child.

  • Once children are Aged 8, we expect them to change unassisted without parents in the changing rooms.  This is for the privacy of older children who may feel uncomfortable with adults present.

  • Please do not congregate in the changing rooms prior to collection time. We would politely request that masks are to be worn by parents if you need to come indoors.
