Bracknell Masters Open Meet 2019

On Saturday 3rd March Bracknell Swimming Club held it’s annual Open Meet.

This year we had an incredible 30 swimmers take part (only 4 years ago there was only 2 of us!!) - and many of those were doing their first ever gala, or their first in a very long time. It was also great to have some new swimmers with us who have moved up to Seniors -  Paulo and Jordan.

As always team spirit was very high and we were definitely the club that made our presence felt by cheering the loudest.

There were so many good swims that it’s best to put our results in numbers to get a flavour of what we achieved:

  • 18 Gold medals
  • 18 Silver medals
  • 24 Bronze medals
  • 6 Men’s Club records
  • 8 Women’s Club records
  • 19 different relay teams
  • 5 relay teams in the Mike Daniells Memorial 4x25 Butterfly relay, including a Coaches Team (Dave, Jordan, Pip and Sharon).
  • Top Team: 3rd (only 20 points behind the host club)
  • Top Swimmer female: Jo Beardsworth 3rd

In honour of Mike we swam ‘no hat, no goggles’ which is how Mike used to swim his record breaking 200 fly!

Ans as always we went for a curry afterwards to refuel and celebrate.

Thanks as always to Dave, Patrick, Joe and Jordan for working us hard in training.

Also grateful thanks To Matt from Finis for letting us try out the new Finis race suits.
