WYCOMBE DISTRICT SWIMMING CLUB

Wycombe Swimmers @ BUCS

Simon Shaw

Whlst many of our swimmers were enjoying the Dual Award meet a  small team of our Bucks New University swimmers competed at the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Long Course Swimming Championships.

Longstanding Wycombe swimmer James Baxter spearheaded our  contingent in Sheffield; he was joined by Olivia Tatton and Piers Bowden. Olivia and Piers are both in their 1st year at the university, with Olivia’s ‘home’ club being Northampton SC. Piers has been a member of WDSC since 2016.

All three swimmers swam well with James & Olivia making 4 finals collectively between them – James in his 100 and 200 Fly and Olivia in the 200 Back and 200 IM. Piers competed in the 200 Free, 100 Free & 100 Back, swimming a lifetime PB in the 100 Back.

The three swimmers contributed to the team finnishing 19th in the Top University points – pretty incredible for just three entered swimmers against some much bigger entries and the top performance teams. The final points table is below.
