Bracknell Masters Open Meet 2019 On Saturday 3rd March Bracknell Swimming Club held it’s annual Open Meet. This year we had an incredible 30 swimmers take part (only 4 years ago there was only 2 of us!!) - and many of those were doing their first ever gala, or their first in a very long time. On Sunday 3rd March 2019 Wycombe’s swimmers competed in Cardiff in the 50th National Arena Swimming League Finals.  In an exciting and close final Wycombe Swimmers did themselves and their club proud.  After the team parades and opening anthems racing started watched over by special guest world record holder and Olympic Champion Adam Peaty.  The first event was the Ladies Open 200IM Millie Sansome opening Wycombe;s account with a  fine 2nd placed swim. FINA recently released the Masters World Rankings following the completion of the 2018 season. The lists are complied of the 10 fastest times swum in each event in each age group over the course of the year. Wycombe Swimming's Louise Henley (30-34 age group) has been confirmed as the WORLD NUMBER ONE in the 100 Breastroke. Louise won Gold in the 100 Breastroke at the European Championships (LC) in Slovenia in September, breaking the British Record in doing so. 8 Masters swimmers represented WDSC at the South East Masters Regional Championships over the weekend of 19/20 January at the K2 in Crawley. For Steve Quinn and Kevin Wills this was their first time at a regional event and they were joined by Holly Moore (her first event as a Wycombe swimmer), Sarah Collin (an ‘away day’ from her University studies), and regular competitors Ami Pantridge, Jo Beardsworth, Greg du Tertre and Pip Williams.  It was a busy meet with many masters trying to achieve qualifying times for the Masters World Championships in August. Wycombe Swimmers retained their title of County Champions for the fifth season in a row at the Berks and South Bucks County Championships. The clubs swimmers took an impressive clean sweep of the points trophies. In the Boys aggregate scores events Alex Cooper took the Lambert Shield in a close fought competition with Marcus Haigh, Alexander Moore and Sammy Tucker. County Championships Weekend 1 Report by: James Lewis Wycombe District Swimming Club dominated the first weekend of the Berkshire & South Buckinghamshire County Championships. In the 16 individual events Wycombe had a county champion in all except one, with a 1-2-3 result not being uncommon. An exciting start to Saturday saw Jamie O’Connor just beat Josh Williams to the title of 400m Freestyle senior county champion by less than two tenths of a second. Arena League Final Round Saturday 8th December sees the six best swimming clubs in the South East of England competing in a head to head gala at Wycombe Leisure Centre for the title of Arena League South Champions.  The winners will have a guaranteed place in the National Final to be held in Cardiff in April 2019 and a chance to crowned National Champions. Website Update We have now switched our website to the new look content management system provide by Team Unify.  We have been trialing the system over the last few months with Team Unify and we now believe the website is sufficiently developed to go live.  The system is designed to be responsive to the platform on which you are viewing it.  The site should scale to your phone or tablet, but we havent been able to test it on every brower and there are some features that are still in devlopment by Team Unify....
