AGE REGIONAL

  Age Regional is aimed at swimmers 12-14 years old that offers swimmers the opportunity to compete at County & Regional standard events, training with peers that have similar expectations. Swimmers will learn the skill and tactics required to compete in the full range of swimming events. 

Individuals will be expected to be achieving Regional qualifying times in multiple events. Members will be expected to be able to train at a consistent high level. It is expected that swimmers in this group will be taking a certain degree of ownership for their own development

 

Recommended 5-6 Session a week

 

Squad Entrance Criteria

 The typical age of swimmers in this squad are between 12 -14 years.

  • Achieving South West Regional Qualifying or consideration Times in 100's or above
  • Competing at Target Competitions & following race Calendar
  • Attending at least 2 AM sessions a week
  • Demonstrate a 200 IM efficiently with all legal turns under 3:00.00
  • Demonstrate a racing start on all 4 strokes
  • Demonstrate all Storke turns (Fly / Bk / Br / Fc)
  • Complete a set of 20 x 100 Fc – 1:40
  • Complete a Set of 10 x 50 Kick – 1:05

 

Athlete Requirements

  • Expected to arrive on time to complete Pre Pool before the session
  • Report to Coach before and After every Race
  • Expected to be professional and follow full warm up and swim Down protocol at meets
  • 100% commitment to team events
  • Demonstrate a good Level of dedication to the sport and attendance
  • Athletes are advised to take holidays at appropriate times in the year so not to disrupt training into key meets

  Performance Pathway - If meeting squad criteria for Performance Pathway (13yrs/Ovr)

  Youth Performance - if meeting squad criteria to progress to Youth Performance ( 13yrs/ Ovr)

 

Equipment Required

Pool Training

  • Drinks bottle x2 (min 1 litre).

  • Swimming flippers.

  • Kickboard.

  • Hand paddles.

  • Goggles x2

  • Pull-buoy.

  • Snorkel.

  • Rubber band to go around ankles.

Land Training and Pre Pool

  • Correct sports trainers, shorts, t-shirt and hoodie.

  • Resistance Bands

  • Foam Roller

  • Skipping Rope

  • Yoga Matt
