A busy weekend for the seagulls team which had over 60 swimmers competing at 2 different venues putting the hard work from training into action. DORSET NOVICE LEAGUE ROUND 1 A team of young seagull’s swimmers travelled down to Weymouth on 22nd / 23rd January for round 1 of the Dorset novice league which was hosted with great excitement. Dorset County Swimming Championships Weekend 1 This past weekend Seagulls had a record number of swimmers qualify to race at the Dorset County swimming championships which was being held at Littledown leisure centre in Bournemouth for weekend 1. This event is swam over 4 weekend with the Distance 800m happening this Sunday followed by the second full weekend of racing and then finally the final distance event that is the 1500m. Seagull’s swimming club have had an amazing 4 swimmers qualify for the Swim England winter short course national championships which is being held at one of most famous racing venues in the country ponds forge in Sheffield. Big congratulations to all Seagulls swimmers who competed at the recent club championships this weekend just gone. Over the two sessions Seagulls has a record 92 swimmers compete with over 350 swims in total. Great to see so many new faces racing and enjoying the experience and plenty of medals out on show. This past weekend we said goodbye to one of our coaches and ex chairman John O’Hara who has been with the club since 2009 and seen both kids Jacob and Bethan grow up within the club. A team of young seagulls competed down at Dorchester for the West Dorset County qualifier this past weekend with many swimmers within team having not done a open meet before. This was a perfect opportunity for the swimmers to gain experience racing and official times. Overall, the team were amazing with their racing over the weekend and as always plenty of lessons learnt from the weekend on how to get quicker and race better. This past weekend Seagulls had a team of 15 swimmers compete at the highly competitive TYR super series at Millfield school in Somerset. This meet had swimmers from a variety of different clubs ranging all around the country which included a number of International swimmers and national champions.
