British Swimming Selection Trials 2021

Brian Dalgleish

This upcoming week sees the British Swimming Selection Trials 2021 (formerly called the British Swimming Championships 2021) take place at the London Aquatics Centre.

Normally this meet would be where the fastest swimmers from across the country congregate to select Team GB for the Olympics, as well as other events like European Juniors. Due to the restrictions still in place, as well as the lack of training for the majority of swimmers across the country, the entry requirements have been changed for 2021 limiting who is able to participate.

We are delighted that Lucy G will be competing in the 100m Butterfly event. This event takes place on Wednesday (14th April), with heats starting at 10am. Lucy has been able to continue training due the performance exemption in place within Scotland. We are really looking forward to seeing her swim and we would like to wish her the best of luck from all at SAST! We will keep you all informed about how she gets on and will post a link to the livestream ahead of her event.

We would also like to recognise those that qualified for the meet but are no longer able to attend. Lewis H, Keira S and Charlotte H all achieved qualification times thanks to performances in 2019 and early 2020. Well done to all 3 swimmers in what is a brilliant achievement no matter the circumstances. We are sure that when things return to normal in the years ahead, that you and others will be able to participate in the British Championships as you had hoped.
