Swadlincote Swimming Club- Performance & Gala Guide Lines
BEFORE
- It is very important to eat correctly to aid performance before competition.
- All swimmers to ensure they are on poolside in good time to start “Blood flow” before the warm up.
- Stay fully hydrated – 1% dehydration = 6% detrimental effect on performance
POOLSIDE
- Be prepared with the correct food & fluids for the duration of the competition.
- Poolside’s can be very hot places please have plenty of water to drink throughout the event
- Make an effort where appropriate to support team-mates whilst competing
- Warm muscles perform better than cold muscles: swimmers to wear club t-shirts, shorts, socks & shoes on poolside.
- At team events (League galas) all swimmers should stay on poolside until after the last race.
- SAVE YOUR ENERGY FOR RACING – not racing around poolside!
- Listen to Team Managers to know when you are racing.
- If you need to leave poolside, you must ask the permission of the Team Managers.
COMPETITION
- All swimmers must wear SSC swimming hat when competing
- Where possible you should have a replacement pair of goggles that are exactly the same as your “favourite” racing goggles.
- When called for your race, take your hat, goggles and water bottle with you.
- All swimmers must report to the Head Coach or a member of the coaching team (before parents) after every race for feedback.
