Emerald Squad
Performance criteria
A place within this squad is based on attendance and performance both in training and at competitions, this will be constantly reviewed.
The aim is to compete at County and Regional levels and achieve targets that are set by the Coach.
Any child offered place in this squad will be given a starter pack which will outline the session expectations which are set by the Head Coach.
All squad movements will be at the discretion of the Coach in conjunction with the core values of the squad.
Training times –
Monday 19.00 - 20.30 (Abbey Leisure Centre 25m Pool)
Wednesday 18.00 - 19.30 (Becontree 25m Pool)
Friday 19.00 - 20.30 (Abbey Leisure Centre 25m Pool)
Attendance expectations
9 – 15 Years old at a minimum of 3 sessions per week
Goals for the squad
- To improve endurance and strength appropriate to swimming
- To develop values for all walks of life such as perseverance, commitment, respect, self-respect, focus and sportsmanship
- To aim for Essex County Times over 50m Events
- To be able to continuously swim 1500m using 1 stroke
- To be able to complete a timed set

Session Policy (Parent / Guardian & Swimmers Discipline)
Please note the issues below are common occurrences that need to be addressed: -
- It is required that training sessions commence promptly
- Swimmers to be on poolside 5-10 min before the start of the session to conduct a pre pool warm up
- All swimmer’s poolside must start the session when told. If not, the swimmer will not be permitted to take part in the session
- Swimmers arriving later than 10 min after the session starts will not be permitted to take part in the session
- Swimmers that arrive within the 10 min window have 2 min to get in the pool or they will not be permitted to take part in the session
- Swimmers must always have their training equipment ready at poolside
- No swimmer is to stop the lane and fix their goggles during sessions
- No swimmer is to use the lane ropes during the session
- No swimmers are to continuously jump off the bottom of the pool during the session
- No swimmer is to skip lengths during the session
- No swimmers are to grab other children’s feet during the session
- Parents that are watching their children swimming and they are witnessing the above need to advise their children that this cannot happen as the coach cannot always keep an eye on all children
- All swimmers must take all their belonging’s home at the end of each session and not leave equipment in lockers
