NOVA Centurion swimmers showed their strength at the East Midlands Regional Short Course Championships, held at Harvey Hadden at the beginning of November. More than 60 swimmers achieved qualifying times to compete across two age groups in the annual competition, with Nova awarded a total of 16 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 10 bronze. Nova’s breaststroke supremo Callum Melville has been representing club and country at Swim Scotland’s first National Junior Team camp of the season for Scotland’s elite young swimmers. Performance squad member Callum, 16, who won a clean sweep of three gold medals in the breaststroke events at British Summer Championships in July, took part in the intensive weekend-long camp earlier this month. Speedy September Sprint Meet kicks off short course season for Nova Nova Centurion launched the 2022/2023 swim season with another successful September Sprint Meet at our home pool Harvey Hadden. The annual Level 3 short course season-opener attracted swimmers from right across the Midlands as well as plenty of support from local clubs, and more than 800 swims were recorded. Nottingham A squad duo Iona Colbert and Livia Kingsland became the latest Nova swimmers to represent Team GB with impressive performances at the recent European Junior Championships in Romania. A crack team of Nova swimmers braved the chilly waters of Llandegfedd Lake in South Wales in June for the Swim Wales Open Water meet. The event was originally designed as British Swimming’s selection event for European Juniors Open Water, but due to the European swimming association LEN setting the date for European Juniors before the selection event took place it was changed to a selection event for LEN cup events. Nova Centurion’s June Sprint open meet was a fantastic success with 20 swim clubs from as far afield as Oxford making the journey to Harvey Hadden on Jubilee Sunday. Nova swimmers were selected to take part in a special test weekend at the brand-new Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham. The County Swim Squad returned to the prestigious competition after a 2 year break due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
