Succesful June Sprint Open Meet

Michelle Parkins

Nova Centurion’s June Sprint open meet was a fantastic success with 20 swim clubs from as far afield as Oxford making the journey to Harvey Hadden on Jubilee Sunday. The packed program saw 1300 swims over the two sessions for the Level 3 long course event which is a regular fixture in the Nova calendar.

We were also able to offer valuable training for volunteer officials during the day, with more than 20 trainees taking part in supervised roles.

Nova’s director of swimming Nathan Hilton said: “Nova’s home meets are an ideal way for swimmers to get times and race practice in familiar surroundings and are an important means of financial support for our program. We couldn’t run these events without the fantastic support we get from officials, parents, volunteers and other clubs so it was great to see so many faces on the day, including so many officials of the future. Thank you to everyone who attended or helped.”

Planning for September’s L3 short course sprint meet on Sunday, September 25 is now underway, with entries already being taken on a first come, first served basis. Entries for outside clubs closes on September 14.
