Tim Walker - Academy Coach

I first began swimming when I was six months old at Water Babies. I started in Stage 1 with Bicester Blue Fins as soon as I was 4, moving my way up through the Club to the top Performance Squad, competing at County level in several different years.

I started helping every week in lessons as soon as I turned 13 and am now a level 1 qualified Coach and a level 1 and 2 qualified Teacher. I intend to complete my level 2 coaching qualification once I turn 18.

Swimming is most definitely in the family! My eldest brother Ben previously held the position as BBF Lead Academy Coach and currently coaches at Rugby swimming club.  My other brother Joe used to be BBF Head Lessons Teacher and is now Head Coach of Kidlington & Gosford Swimming Club where I now train due to my schedule.

Outside of swimming, I am studying for my A levels in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics.  I also enjoy playing table tennis in my spare time as well as watching Formula 1.

The part about teaching I enjoy the most is seeing the swimmers enjoy themselves whilst learning to swim. My favorite stroke to teach is breaststroke because it can be a challenging stroke to learn which for me makes it a fun stroke to teach and it is also my favorite stroke to swim.  I hope to continue teaching swimming at Bicester Blue Fins long enough to see some of the younger swimmers develop up through the Club and into the Performance Squads as I did.
