Overseas swim camps
Our overseas swimming camps are an important part of the club's development programme, and for many swimmers is a highlight of life as an Otter. Over the past nine years we have delivered six overseas swim camps, giving almost 150 swimmers aged 9 and upwards a unique opportunity to develop their swimming in world-class Mediterranean swimming facilities.
Cyprus 2012
Chalfont Otters took 23 swimmers aged between nine and 19 for their first ever warm-weather swimming camp in Cyprus. The camp combined a solid week of long-course training in a 50m pool used by Team GB with open-water swimming the Mediterranean, in a bid to increase stamina and technique.
Mallorca 2014
Our second overseas training camp was held in Mallorca in October 2014, based at the Blue Water Elite Swimming Training (BEST) Centre in Sant Jordi, southern Mallorca, where our squads combined long-course training with land training and team-building activities.
Cyprus 2016
Our 2016 warm-weather training camp comprised 7 days’ intense training of 4 hours a day in the Olympic-sized swimming pool at the 5* Coral Beach Hotel in Paphos, Cyprus, land training, open-water swimming, stretching and social activities for 28 swimmers from our senior squads, two coaches and seven team managers. The camp was an intense, action-packed week, with our swimmers returning home fitter, stronger, faster and loving long-course warm-weather outdoor swimming.
