From 4 years old
Minnows have half-hour lessons on Wednesday & Thursday evenings at Dorking Leisure Centre starting at 18:00.
4 to 5 years old
In Shrimps, you need to be able to swim 10m, the teaching focuses on development of good technique on front and back in an atmosphere of structured fun.
Typically 6 to 8 years old
As a Penguin and then a Shark, you will learn all the necessary skills to become a competent swimmer and to progress into competitive swimming (Junior 1) - whilst having fun!
7 to 9 years old
Junior 1 introduces the swimmer to the first competitive level of the club where they experience an increase in the amount of swimming they do.
8 and older
When swimmers move from the "Learn to Swim" programme to the first training level at the club, they will experience an increase in the amount of training they do. Swimmers are expected to attend all the training sessions. After three to four weeks with all the sessions being attended they will have adapted to this level of training and progression will quickly follow.
10 and older
When the swimmers join the Competitive Development Squad the training sets increase and the swimmers are introduced to more types of training sets. There are 5 swimming sessions available for this squad per week. Squad members should be able to cover between 2000 - 3000m during per hour during a training session.
Typically 13 and older
The aim in the Intermediate squad is to target specific competitions. Keep up to date with all aspect of competitive swimming. Advanced swimming related flexibility, psychology and physiology will be used. Land based training and target swimming leading to specialisation and performance enhancement.
From Year 10 to 18 years old
Intermediate Lite squad is an option for those in Year 10 to stay in the club but without the time and cost commitment of a full training squad.
13 and older
Membership of the Performance squad is earned through hard work, good attitude & commitment. Selection by the Head Coach should not be considered an automatic progression from other squads, and it is not a privilege earned from previous performances or status.
18+
Swimmers who are aged 18 and older, in full time university education (living away from home), may become Student members.
18+
If you are aged 18+ and keen to swim either for fitness or for competition then come along to a Masters Session.
