Minnows

From 3 years old

Minnows have half-hour lessons on a Thursday evenings at Dorking Sports Centre at 17:30 or 18:00.

Shrimps

4 to 5 years old

In Shrimps, you need to be able to swim 10m, the teaching focuses on development of good technique on front and back in an atmosphere of structured fun.

Penguins

Typically 6 to 8 years old

As a Penguin and then into PreSquad, you will learn all the necessary skills to become a competent swimmer and to progress into competitive swimming (Junior Development) - whilst having fun!

PreSquad

7 to 9 years old

PreSquad introduces the swimmer to the first competitive level of the club where they experience an increase in the amount of swimming they do.

Junior Development

8 and older

When swimmers move from the "Learn to Swim" programme to the first training level at the club, they will experience an increase in the amount of training they do. Swimmers are expected to attend all the training sessions. After three to four weeks with all the sessions being attended they will have adapted to this level of training and progression will quickly follow.

Junior & Junior Performance

9 and older

When the swimmers join either Junior or Junior Performance,  the training sets increase in variety and distance.  There are six swimming sessions available for this squad per week.

Age Group & Age Group Performance

10 and older

Swimmers in this squad continue to develop all 4 strokes with the emphasis on IM swimming using robust technique that does not break down under pressure.  There are five sessions available and one land based training session.

Senior Squad

Typically 13 and older

Swimmers in Senior squad have four sessions available to them, attending as many as possible will ensure that aerobic fitness and technique will continue to develop.

Senior Lite Squad

From Year 10 to 18 years old

Swimmers in Senior Lite squad swim alongside Senior Squad, they swim two of the four sessions available to them, attending as many as possible will ensure that aerobic fitness and technique will continue to develop.

Senior Performance

13 and older

Swimmers in Senior Performance squad, must have a strong desire to compete, commitment to the programme and a strong work ethic.  There are six swim sessions available, as well as one land based training session.

Students

18+

Swimmers who are aged 18 and older, in full time university education (living away from home), may become Student members.
