Dorking Swimming Club

Junior & Junior Performance Squad

An ideal guideline age is 9-11 years old.

Technique and swimming skills

  • Complete familiarity with the competition rules and regulations.
  • Adding in endurance and speed training.
  • Monitoring progression using test sets as part of the ongoing training programme.
  • Building on technique and efficiency of strokes, starts, and turns.
  • Begin to understand how to fully utilise the underwater starts and turns, e.g 3-4 fast powerful kicks off the start and turn.

Attendance - Junior Squad

  • Each week, attendance at as many sessions as possible will ensure that aerobic fitness and technique will continue to develop. This is essential if at a future date you wish to move to the Performance pathway.
  • The Club Champs are available to enter, should your swimmer want to move to the performance pathway this would be beneficial.

Attendance - Junior Performance Squad

  • Each week, we recommend attendance of all sessions to make as much progress as possible however by attending 4 out of 6 sessions a week you can still achieve a high level of progress.
  • You are expected to attend all Club Champs and enter Open Meets including aiming for County Championships.

Please Note:

All swimmers that are Primary or Junior School age must have a responsible adult present for all training sessions, and the swimmer must know who they are if it's not the parent, in case of emergency.
