Child Welfare

The welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility particularly when it comes to protecting children from all forms of abuse according to the Children’s Act 1989.  The Child Welfare Office (CWO) has a responsibility to report child protection concerns to the appropriate body.  A child is defined as any young person under the age of 18.

All allegations of alleged abuse will be taken seriously.  These will be responded to and acted upon within the correct timescales as advised by the ASA (Swim England).  If abuse is suspected the CWO will deal with such allegations in accordance to ASA guidelines.  Where appropriate it will be dealt with within the Club or the relevant statutory or voluntary body.

All volunteers seeking to help out with children within Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club, must undergo the appropriate checks according to current Government legislation and ASA guidelines.  Anyone refusing to do this will not be eligible to work with children at Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club.

Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club will review this policy annually or sooner if legislation changes.
