Kingston Royals Open Meet - Sat 30th Sept and Sun 1st Oct

After 4 weeks of hard training it was time for the first open meet of the season. 44 Elmbridge Phoenix swimmers took part in the Kingston Open Meet at the Xcel.

Saturday 30th September

Elmbridge got off to a blistering start taking 26 medals on the Saturday, with half of these being golds. There where some fantastic swims across the board with many personal bests, and lots of strong performances.

A special mention goes to Eleanor White who swam in 3 events, won 3 golds and achieved 3 personal bests. A great start to the season for her! She wasn’t the only junior Elmbridge swimmer to show off her speed. Huge personal bests and really fast swims from Louis Joll, Daniel Rautenbach, Louisa Cipoletta and Oliver Flack proved that Elmbridge Phoenix have strength in depth.

Overrall it was extremely pleasing to see the efforts of our swimmers paying off, and they looked full of confidence going into the Sunday races.

Sunday 1st October

It proved to be a very busy weekend for some Elmbridge swimmers.  Following on from Saturdays successes at the Kingston meet, and with some swimming in and winning the Junior Cup meet on Saturday evening we set up again on poolside on Sunday for another long day at Xcel.

Archie Austin got the day going as the only Elmbridge swimmer in the boys 200IM taking a creditable 4th place in a 3.58 sec pb.

We then had 20 Elmbridge girls swimming the 50 Free most swimming a pb or close.

The day continued in this vane with excellent fast swimming from all our boys and girls.  Elmbridge swimmers again taking home a hat full of medals, including 18 golds.

In all the Kingston meet was great for Elmbridge and a very promising start to a busy season.
