Our private lessons Learn to Swim programme are for children from aged 3 years and follow Swim England guidelines to ensure your child has the best chance in thriving in their swimming. The teacher will assess the swimmer on the first session to ensure that the child works at the right stage from when they first start with us at the Rushmoor Royals Learn to Swim School. Each private lesson will meet the needs of the child and aims for them to progress each week throughout the term.

There are four duckling levels that the swimmer will work through before they reach the Water Skill lessons we offer. Duckling classes are suited to children who have not had any previous swimming lessons and therefore are a complete beginner learning from the start of our Learn to Swim programme. We consider children in these classes who may be anxious to be in the water and consider each child’s individual needs throughout each lesson.

Water Skills are from 1-4. Children start in Water Skill 1 when they are getting ready to come off an aid and may practice frequently swimming without one with the support of a teacher or water helper. As each child develops, they move up throughout all Water Skill levels working on their technique and stamina. All classes are tailored to meet each child’s individual needs.

We also have a 'My First Swim' level which is after Water Skills 1, this is Rushmoor Royals tailored. Here, children will complete 7 metres on there own and be confident to Swim in the deep end ready for Water Skills 2
