Since its formation, Shiverers has taught thousands of children to swim, hundreds have competed at County and Regional level and some have even represented their country. See Charlotte’s story below. Today, Shiverers is one of the most successful clubs in Sussex and we compete in the London, premier division of the Arena League, one of the toughest divisions in the country.

We’re currently putting together a Hall of Fame, featuring some of the club’s most successful swimmers. In the meantime, here’s just one example of someone many of us at Shiverers are inspired by.

Charlotte’s story

Charlotte Woolliscroft joined Shiverers aged 8 and although at that time was very apprehensive about even joining a club, let alone training and competing, she knew that she really loved swimming. With previous Head Coach Ian Newell’s encouragement and motivation – and the opportunities that Shiverers Club provided for Charlotte to train – she not only enjoyed her swimming but blossomed into an outstanding performer.

Charlotte, whilst at Shiverers won over 13 national swimming titles and competed internationally for GB on numerous occasions, including two World Championships when she was 17 and 18 years old. She attended the Beijing Olympics as part of the Olympic Ambition Programme.

The club seems to be run with the best interests of each individual swimmer in mind and the swimmers seem to be focused on trying to be the best they can be.
