Age Group Performance Squad

Swimmers will be expected to perform to exceptional standards at every session with excellent attendance. This squad will also be learning to take responsibility for their own training and learning how to manage their training time effectively. Training will become far more competitive focused as swimmers begin to gain a greater understanding of pacing and advanced training sessions specific to their physical development. Aerobic conditioning is still the main focus within training as skills continue to develop with other training zones being utilised as appropriate within the plan.

Swimmers will be expected to –

  • Compete in appropriate League Competitions when selected, and Open Meets selected by the coaching team.
  • Achieve a minimum standard of County Times.
  • Be within 3% of Regional Times.
  • Attend all available land training.
  • Attend a minimum of 5 out of 6 pool sessions a week including 1 morning.

Any swimmer with a heavy academic workload due to GCSE’s please speak to your coach who will discuss your training plan with you.

Movement between squads will be at the coach’s discretion. Being able to fulfil the criteria in the next squad will not guarantee movement. Movements will be made when the coaching team are confident that swimmers can complete the workloads in the next squad without issue.
