Summer Diddys
Our Summer Diddys event is provisionally scheduled for Saturday 27th June 2020 at Pool in the Park, but will be confirmed nearer the time.
What are the Diddys?
The Diddys are the first time our younger club members have the chance of experiencing competitive swimming and it's held as two separate events:
- The Summer Diddy Championships – held around June
- The Winter Diddy Ribbon – held towards the end of the year
The events are generally for swimmers aged between 5 and 9 years old, and Associates 2 upwards, with a lot of encouragement given to all. The poolside helpers are mostly mums and dads of swimmers or ex-swimmers, or older swimmers helping out.
Swimmers will compete in 25m swims in each of the four strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly), dependant on what squad they are in. The grouping is done on a calendar year basis, with separate events for girls and boys.
At the end of the evening, a presentation will be made to those swimmers who were in placed 1 to 6 across all the events.
