This weeks challenge is a Squad event to see who can climb the Eiffel Tower first! The Eiffel Tower consists of 108 flights of stairs (upwards only 1665). Each member of your squad, including coaches, will need to complete 1665 stairs and send us a picture when completed including your name and squad. So if you have 13 stairs divide 1665 by 13. We are very sorry to tell you that our former Woking President, Chairman, and Life Member, Ray Hedger has died. Ray was our Chairman from 1975 to 1981 and spent more than a decade poolside as a swimming teacher and club coach. His sons John and Douglas provided his initial introduction to swimming at Woking SC and he never looked back, holding a wide range of prestigious roles within the swimming community including Surrey County President in 1987 and 2001 and ASA President in 2014/15. On 7th March 2020 over 80 swimmers, of which, many were Woking’s younger swimmers turned up to compete in their first ever Open Meet and the first time in a 50m pool. The swimmers behaved brilliantly and represented the club well. Woking managed to secure 62 Gold, 54 Silver and 43 Bronze medals throughout the meet. Congratulations to Coach; Seb Leather and our Silver Squad Swimmers; Caiden Stuart, Thomas Melville, Galahad Reeve for their selection to this years 11 year old Surrey County ASA Development Camps. The county development programme is the first phase of the Swim England talent pathway. Selection was made from the county rankings on each stroke swam at the county championships. A very successful open meet at Xcel yesterday. For some swimmers it was their first competition outside of Woking, and they represented the club brilliantly. Not only did they all swim fantastically, but they supported their peers, they interacted with other clubs and their behaviour was second to none. The Final Weekend of the Surrey’s More success for Woking on the final weekend of the Surrey County Championships held at the London Aquatic Centre, home of the London 2012 Olympics. Woking’s medal haul of 20 Golds, 13 Silvers, 22 Bronze from the overall competition managed to secure Woking 3rd place overall in the Surrey Competition (Tinlin Trophy) with 662.5 points, narrowly missing out 2nd place by just only 8.5 points.
