It is with great sadness and heavy heart that the club shares the news of the passing of Jules Burvill, treasurer of Woking Swimming Club. A wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend to so many people in the swimming world in both the UK and USA. Jules has been a member of Woking Swimming Club for over 20 years and our treasurer for the last 16 years. Like many other parents, she first started volunteering when her daughter Hannah began swimming at the Club. She quickly progressed to a very...

The Woking Swimming Club December Dasher was an extremely well run event which was the result of a lot of hard work in the background. As the first Open Meet that Woking had run in 2 years, it was a good experience for all our volunteers (White and Red Shirts). When the bell rang for the hot heats, and the lead official pulled out the Reindeer, the excitement was clear to see on the swimmers' faces. The hot heats were a chance for swimmers to have an added incentive to...

It was an hours bus ride out to Burgess Hill for the third round of the National Arena League and Woking Swimming Club enjoyed a very tight competition with all the clubs there. The end result was a 4th place finish in the group, but only 3 points off second which showed how tight it was. Our position went up and down all night, making for a very exciting night of racing and again more experience was gained by a number of first time swimmers which builds confidence. There were...

For obvious reasons the Swim England National Winter Championships wasn't held last year, but a changed structure allowed more junior swimmers in this time around and a record number of entries made the competition very tough. We had three swimmers competing for Woking Swimming Club over the course of the weekend with great results - Hendrik van der Leest, Sophie King and Ben Howell. Day 1 Hendrik van der Leest competed in the Men's 200m Backstroke and he produced a solid heat swim of 2.00.97 (28th). This was then followed...

Round 2 of the National Arena League was held at the Guildford Spectrum for Woking SC, so not a long journey for us. The overall effort from the swimmers was really high and the show of team support outclassed everyone, led by Club Captain Erin Pritchard who didn't have a swim on the night but came down to support the team out. Woking Swimming Club placed 3rd in the end after being 4th all night against a very strong and competitive group. This was a great achievement as we lost...
