Woking were hosts for the final round of the Rother League on Saturday night at Pool in the Park. This, the last of three rounds, saw Woking competing against Havant & Waterlooville, Leatherhead, Staines and Sutton & Cheam. Congratulations to Sophie King, who, following her fabulous performance at Nationals this year, has been selected for the Swim England Talent National Development Programme. Swim England Swimming organise a series of development programmes that provide a pathway to support young swimmers in their quest to achieve senior international podium success. Seb, currently working towards his level 2 coaching qualification, has joined us from Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club where he has been working with their junior squads. Congratulations to Hendrik van der Leest and Abbi Stemp, who have been selected to represent Surrey at the National County Championships on the weekend of October 6th at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The County Team Champs is a fun, colourful and competitive event with more than 900 swimmers competing from 36 counties. Well done to both swimmers! Link to full team and more details here: LINK

With 2 swimmers Sam Crew and Abigail Stemp in the Finals, it was the perfect way to end the week. With them both competing in the 50m Buttefly final, they knew it would be tough but both put in solid performances. Sam was first in the pool and with another PB in a time of 26:12 he finished 7th. Abbi also put in a great swim finishing 8th in her final in a time of 29:13. Great swims Abbi and Sam and a great way to end the week!

On the last day of the English Nationals, Abbi Stemp, Zoe Ryan and Sam Crew were all competing. Zoe was hoping to replicate her success from Friday when competing in the 200m Backstroke. After a strong start, she was unable to maintain the pace and finished a respectable 14 with a time of 2:30.07. Day 3 Finals First up was Brin Dorrell in his 50m backstroke final. In a very close race, Brin was delighted to secure yet another PB swim in a time of 28.71 secs and an 8th place in this National final. Well done Brin! This morning was nothing but 50m backstroke with Brin Dorrell, Kiera Heney and Zoe Ryan all swimming for a place in the finals. Brin was first off and a new PB of 28.76 secured him 6th place in the finals. Kiera was next and, after a great start, her pace was not enough and she finished a respectable 15th.
