St Ives athletes participated in a top level 1 swimming meet at Luton Inspire Pool over the 16th & 17th March with a plethora of lifetime best swims and a haul of top placed medals. Last weekend was the Buxton Open where swimmers competed at the Derby 50 metre Olympic size pool. Swimmers Belle Taylor, Flo Taylor, Hannah Pye, Maria Zhurbenko Saczawa, Antoni Zhurbenko-Saczawa and Finley Terry, all of whom competed superbly at the meet taking Two Golds (Finley Terry and Flo Taylor), 3 Silvers (Hannah Pye, Flo Taylor and Finley Terry) and 2 Bronze Medals (Flo Taylor and Finley Terry) with both Antoni and Maria swimming superbly and gaining lifetime best times in the first meet of the season. A huge well done to Chloe Butler and Luke Tunstall who swam at the British Swimming Championships today. Chloe smashed her PB and then took 2.5 seconds off her heat time to come 8th in the 200m breaststroke final! In an awesome time of 2.33.93! Luke also swam a PB and came 9th in the 50m freestyle final with an impressive time of 22.55! Well done to both our SISC swimmers, we are so proud of you both!

We had an amazing final Club Champs of 2023. Anna Rothwell, the Cambridgeshire County President joined us today as our special guest and was thrilled to see such amazing races, fantastic team support and a wonderful atmosphere. Well done to all the swimmers today, your support for each other was exceptional.
An enormous congratulations to William Roberts, who swam this weekend at the British Down Syndrome Championships. William won gold in the 400m and 200m IM making him the British Champion for both!! St Ives swimmers performed exceptionally at the Swim England East Region winter swimming Champs at Luton today, Saturday (where the top athletes compete from the six counties of Cambs, Beds, Hertford, Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk )with Ciara Taylor, Tessa Quayle, Ewan Thompson, Chloe and Elliot Megginson all competing against other athletes from across this region, Chloe Butler swam an outstanding 59.86 for the 100 metres Freestyle, a rare occasion for female club swimmers to go sub one minute for this event.
