March Marlins Autumn Swim Meet at Whittlesey

Kay Hamilton

On Sunday 17 October 38 St Ives Swimmers competed against clubs such as March Marlins, City of Peterborough, Ely, St Neots, Wisbech, Chatteris etc in the first Club Open meet since the beginning of the pandemic. Many of our young swimmers competed for the first time at a multi-club gala and they swam superbly, posting many lifetime best swims and winning many medals to boot. Probably even more important was interacting and engaging in healthy competition against peers from outside their own club which adds a new and more dynamic aspect to their future race focus and preparation. In total they achieved the following medal tally,

Gold: 21

Silver: 16

Bronze: 21

Total: 58

Excellent swims by Eloise Dunn, Amelia Dunn, Felix Guy-Pinkney, Josh Marshall, Hannah Pye, Chloe Butler, Olivia Burgess, Michael Wildin, Tom Davis, Keira Mavin, Grace Iddon, Olivia Mitchell, Harvey Woods, Josh Bigwood, Oliver Dickson, Elliot Dickson, Lydia Boag-Kwong, Anna Desborough, Ewan Desborough, Leah Basford, Sara Canamares, Eloise Palmer, Lauren Bailey, Marli Taylor, Tate Taylor, Sian Woods, Lois Cannon, Anna Gallagher, Elliot Megginson, Tessa Quayle, Emily Quayle, Gracie Ward, Zara Sparkes, Esther Damuni, Darcy Stimson, Isabel Martin, William Clark and Isabelle Taylor.
